The occasional rainshower is a blessing! Chances are it won't last long, and then you'll have green, green grass and rainbows to enjoy! The people are among the kindest and friendliest I've ever met Bring durable hiking shoes, or a second pair of walking shoes, just in case sudden rain soaks your shoes May - Sep is an excellent time to visit (May and September especially since the tourists are fewer). The weather is beautiful and due to the high latitude, the days are oh so l-o-n-g... Driving If you'll be renting a car and can't drive a manual, be sure to reserve an automatic far in advance, as these aren't the norm. Driving is on the left. Don't be concerned; it's actually easy and you'll soon get used to it. Just be careful turning left or right as it's easy to accidentally turn onto the right lane. Give yourself plenty of time driving from place to place; most of the country is farmland so you'll often get stuck behind a tractor or other slow-moving vehicle and it can be difficult to pass. Also, the scenery is so beautiful you'll most likely want to pull over and enjoy! Lodging Bed & Breakfasts are EVERYWHERE, so much you need not reserve in advance for every night of your stay. You can drive around at your leisure and find a B&B pretty much anywhere. If you'll flying into Shannon Airport (my recommendation :-), stay at Bunratty Grove - a beautiful tree-lined road filled with comfortable B&B's. It's only a few miles from Shannon Airport, and you'll have Bunratty Castle and a quaint shopping/restaurant area within walking distance. The perfect place to sleep off the jet lag!
