Map of Hawaii Exploring the Hawaiian Islands is a feast for the senses -- fragrant air, warm breezes, bright colorful flowers and sweet juicy fruits... truly a Tropical paradise!

This trip was my first travel adventure, way back in 1988. (wow!)

Feeling bored and trapped, I quit my job and flew to Hawaii with only a backpack - no itinerary or hotel reservations, just some clothes, my camera, a toothbrush and some money. What a blast!

Waikiki Waikiki Beach - canoes everywhere
Waikiki Waikiki Beach

Honestly it's extremely touristy, but if you're not here to relax it can be fun

Waikiki Waikiki Beach

Ahh...the beautiful waters of the Pacific... I'm content to sit and stare at the waves all day

Waikiki Sunset Waikiki city view
Sadly, it's not what it was when I first visited in the 80's -- it's now a noisy, lively city
Waikiki Sunset Waikiki at night - all lit up abuzz with activity

A few miles outside of Honolulu is this neat little scenic overlook, offering stunning views of the city and Waikiki

Hawaii

Hawaii Hawaii Coastline

I found the island of Hawaii to be very beautiful, but dry, desolate and haunting -- much different from lush, colorful Oahu.

Hawaii Dried black swirling lava coats the island; with good reason since Hawaii is the home of many volcanoes.
Hawaii Lava beach!
Devastation Trail Devastation Trail in Volcanoes National Park - and aptly named!
Crater Huge mega crater at Volcanoes National Park

Standing here, with no one anywhere near me, I felt like I was the only one left on the planet. It is that haunting...

Crater Another view of the huge mega crater

Places of Light

Visions of higher realms that bring peace, comfort, inspiration
and whatever your soul needs. Enjoy!
